About the Bloomsbury Institute

The Bloomsbury Institute hosts literary events for books lovers, academics and readers frequently in London and occasionally in Sydney.  Past events have featured William Boyd, Khaled Hosseini, Elizabeth Gilbert, Tom Kerridge and Margaret Atwood

With speakers drawn from the crème of Bloomsbury’s esteemed books in conversation with today’s top commentators and creatives, you’re invited to join us for a unique blend of talks, lectures and salon nights. Events are open to everyone and attended by an engaged audience of writers, readers, reviewers and journalists.

Ticket includes complimentary drinks and the opportunity to network with like-minded guests in our historic premises. Our aim is to give book lovers the opportunity to hear from authors in a relaxed and intimate setting.

Launched in 2012 in London and 2017 in Sydney, the Institute has hosted joint events with Book Aid, Granta, Intelligence Squared, Womankind, Psychologies Magazine and Waterstones to great success, and we’re always open to new partnerships, so do get in touch if you’d like to know more.

View upcoming events and add your email to our News & Offers guest list to receive invites, exclusives and catch up recordings.

There’s an intimacy to The Bloomsbury Institute’s author events which, owing to their sheer popularity and the huge demand for tickets, is a beautiful and curious achievement. Cosmopolitan, relaxed, and served up with a snifter of complementary wine, these events are a serious contender for our favourite literary evening in London

Culture Whisper

Your book club is such a joy for me (and many others) – thank you for providing a lovely venue and opportunity to meet our favourite authors. It is one of the reasons I love living in London and probably will never leave...

“Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford”
— Samuel Johnson

'A belated thank you for the wonderful Liz Gilbert event!
What a super mix of Liz Gilbert warmth, intelligent questions and lovely venue. You people have the perfect formula for a very memorable evening (including generously stowing my suitcase in your office)! Thanks so much!'

Kathy Robinson, Bloomsbury Book Club guest
